Foley, ALA – Traditionally, Live Oak Village awards one employee of the month. But for April, Robin Sweet, Executive Director of Live Oak Village and her management team decided that each employee at the Assisted Living community would receive that honor.

The changing circumstances surrounding the senior living community during COVID-19 have been a challenge for all senior living employees. Sweet says that her employees have truly risen to the challenge and accepted each policy change with positivity and extra care.

“Observing my staff work with our residents during this time has really made me realize what a great team we have here at Live Oak Village,” says Sweet. “Our staff has come together to do whatever is needed to keep our residents positive and in good spirits.”

The hardest part about the new policies around senior living residents is the restrictions on visitors, including family members, into the community. Sweet says her staff has given each resident extra love and care from singing hymns in the lobby, to giving residents golf cart rides around the property, to picking up extra shifts on the weekends to make sure each resident knows they’re not alone.

“I just want to say thank you to all my employees. This has been one of the most challenging events of my career and because we work together, we’ve been able to make the best of a serious situation,” said Sweet.

While the traditional one employee of the month will resume for May, the management team at Live Oak Village says they are proud to recognize all the dedicated caregivers serving its assisted living senior residents during this unprecedented time.
