As of December 21, 2020, The Huntingdon Assisted Living at Homestead Village of Fairhope has two employees and four Assisted Living residents with confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

Homestead Village of Fairhope assisted living residents and staff are under the oversight of a Medical Director, Registered Nurse, and two Assisted Living Administrator licensed professionals. Together, they observe the compliance to standard precautions that apply to any respiratory and other contagious diseases.

Community Senior Life has well-established infection control protocols and is prepared to support residents and caregivers in response to any illness outbreak. To protect resident health during COVID-19, Community Senior Life has provided additional caregiver training to reinforce standard hygiene routines including infection prevention and proper sanitation practices. The Huntingdon Assisted Living team continues to practice universal precautions: disinfecting/cleaning protocols; hand washing and personal hygiene; wearing appropriate personal protection equipment; and social distancing both in the community and encouraging employees to do so while off duty to prevent spread to any other employees. Each Community Senior Life location is following respective local and state department of health requirements including employee screening prior to contact with residents and the staff-wide usage of face masks while on duty.

With confirmed COVID-19 cases, residents are asked to self-isolate in their apartments. Communal dining and activities have been suspended until further notice. Each Assisted Living resident will be screened for fever and COVID-19 related symptoms at a minimum of twice per day by our care staff. We will continue to prohibit families, volunteers, and non-essential providers from visiting until further notice. With the holiday season approaching, we strongly discourage all residents from leaving the premises during an outbreak (2 or more cases in 72 hours) of COVID-19.

Please see the CDC guidelines linked below:

While we cannot prevent any resident from leaving the building, please note that additional testing and quarantine procedures may be necessary upon the resident’s return.

Our warmest thoughts are with our residents and employees and we hope for a full and speedy recovery. Community Senior Life has a history of deficiency-free state surveys and superior compliance with assisted living state regulations. Together, we continue to do everything we can to prevent the virus from spreading to any of our other employees or residents. Community Senior Life will continue to post updates as they arise via our social media, our website: CommunitySeniorLife.org, and internal communications with our employees, residents, and family members.

Warmly,
